2nd SUNDAY OF ADVENT (B) – December 10, 2017

The St. Vincent de Paul society would like to thank parishioners for their generous participation in the annual Christmas Collection & Food Drive during the past weekends. May God bless your generous hearts and reward you abundantly. Kindly note that as of next weekend, there is NO CHILDREN’S LITURGY meeting. The LORD’S FLOCK prayer group will also not be meeting in the coming festive weeks.

On Monday and Tuesday morning, priests will be available here to celebrate Reconciliation for the staff and students in Our Lady of Fatima School. It is not necessary to wait until Christmas Eve to experience God’s joy in the grace of forgiveness! On Tuesday – memorial of OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE – there is a morning Mass at 8.00 o’clock as usual and evening Holy Mass at 7:00 pm.

The Christmas Schedule for the festive liturgies is now posted on our website and on all church bulletin boards. It was also given as an insert in this week’s bulletin and some extra copies are available at church entrances. The People’s Sunday Missal is available from our custodian at the back of the church for the clearing price of $3.00 per copy.

The regular Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

A final reminder that the Christmas Dinner by the SENIORS’ CLUB is this Thursday, December 14th at 12:00 noon in our church hall. We encourage parishioners and others to support this event.

On Friday, December 15th we begin celebrating a Christmas Novena of Masses in our on-going preparation for Christmas. Devotions begin at 6:30 pm every evening and include the Rosary, holy Mass. There will be a time of fellowship afterwards in the hall.

A reminder that the SOCK DRIVE by the Knights of Columbus is still on-going through this Advent season. We would also like to congratulate the winner of the Christmas Crib Raffle last weekend, Jhayden Averion.

The boxes for the 2018 DONATION ENVELOPES are ready for pick-up. They are sorted out in trays, in alphabetical order, according to the family’s last name. These will be used as of January 1st 2018. Thank you.


1st SUNDAY OF ADVENT (A) – December 03, 2017

Kindly note that today’s second collection is the annual St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Collection. This is also the final weekend for the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Food Drive. We are very grateful for your generous support. The Sock Drive by the Knights of Columbus is in progress throughout the Advent season.

The St. Joachim School will have their Advent Mass on Monday, December 4th at 1:00 pm. Advent Reconciliation for students and staff will also take place this Wednesday, December 6 in the morning at 9:15 am in the school gym.

The regular Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

The People’s Sunday Missal – which we will start using this weekend – are also on sale at the back of the church from our custodian, as we begin the liturgical season of ADVENT. The Sunday Readings are for Year B, the year of Mark.

The annual Christmas Dinner, hosted by the SENIORS’ CLUB in our church hall is scheduled for Thursday, December 14, at 12:00 noon. For more details & booking information please refer to the bulletin.

This Friday, the church celebrates the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Morning Mass is at the regular time of 8 o’clock. Holy Mass in the evening will begin at 7:00 pm.

On Saturday, December 9th, 2017, the R.C.I.A. program shall have their last meeting at 10:00 am down in the church hall. The Childrens Liturgy will have their final meeting on Sunday December 10, 2017, and resume in January. We would also like to thank those parishioners that donated towards the church’s Christmas Flowers Offerings. Thank you

34th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – November 26, 2017

Today’s second collection is for the parish’s Renovations Fund. We thank you in advance for your support. Volunteers are at the back of the church to register children for this year’s Christmas Party. Registrations can be made this weekend and next. The Knights of Columbus are selling more Raffle tickets for Christmas fund-raiser at the back of the church. The annual Sock Drive in aid of the homeless and people in local shelters is still on going. We appreciate and are very grateful for supporting these good causes.

The traditional Christmas Food Drive campaign begins next weekend, for two weekends. Meanwhile, the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Collection will be taken in the first weekend of December. This Sunday [today] our parish will be participating in a Crafts and Gift Sale at Our Lady of Fatima School. Various crafts and ideal small gifts will be on sale with proceeds directed toward our Renovations Fund. We encourage families to visit and shop at the Crafts and Gift Sale at Fatima School between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The regular Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

The People’s Sunday Missal – which we will start using next weekend – are also on sale at the back of the church, as we will start the liturgical season of ADVENT. The Sunday Readings for Year B the year of Mark.

Friday is First Friday. Devotions start at 12:15 pm with the Angelus prayer, Divine Mercy chaplet, holy Mass and silent Eucharistic adoration throughout the afternoon and evening. At 6:30 pm we have prayers and Benediction. Holy Mass at 7:00 pm concludes the day’s devotions. All are encouraged to spend some time in silent adoration during the afternoon hours.

There is an R.C.I.A. meeting on Saturday Dec. 02 at 10:00 am in the church hall. And there will be NO meeting for the Children’s Liturgy, and the Lord’s Flock prayer group next Sunday December 03. Thank you.


33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – November 19, 2017

Today the Church celebrates the World Day of the Poor. Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has asked that, as brothers and sisters faithful to Christ and the word of the Gospel, we take some time today to support those who have been marginalized in our society. As scripture says, it is in showing solidarity to the poor that we may encounter the face of our living God. Let’s pray for them, and all those who undertake Christ’s continued mission to assist all those in need on a daily basis.

This weekend’s second collection is for the Shepherds’ Trust. Your generous support is greatly appreciated. And again we remind parents that the deadline date to register their children in our First Holy Communion or Confirmation Classes is Friday, November 24.

This Monday [tomorrow] we have a BAPTISM PREPARATION MEETING for parents and godparents here in the church at 7:00 pm. The next baptism celebration will be on Sunday afternoon November 26 @ 2:00 pm.

This Tuesday November 21, Grade 6 students from Our Lady of Fatima School have a Retreat in our church hall from 9:00 to 3:00 pm. This month’s meeting for our SECULAR CARMELITES is this Tuesday at 7.00 pm in the church hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

This month’s Infant Jesus Novena is on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. The regular Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

The Knights of Columbus are again at the back of the church selling Christmas Cards and tickets in our yearly Christmas Raffle. The People’s Sunday Missal is also on sale at the back of the church from our custodian. The annual SOCK DRIVE hosted by the Knights of Columbus starts next weekend. Early donations of unused socks, scarfs, gloves and hats will be donated for Christmas to the homeless and to local shelters. This weekend and the weekend after volunteers will be at the back of the church to register children for this year’s Christmas Party. More details are in the bulletin.

Next Sunday is the Solemnity of Christ the King, at the start of the final week of the Liturgical Year. Kindly note that during all of next weekend’s Masses we have a second collection for the parish’s Renovations Fund. We are very grateful for your on-going support. Thank you.


32nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – November 11, 2017

This Sunday is Remembrance Sunday. Let us never forget, but continue to pray, help and support all those who fought for peace and freedom, and others who, to this day, still risk their lives to defend our land and promote peace and unity in the world.

There is No Children’s Liturgy, and Lord’s Flock meeting this weekend. Meetings will resume next weekend. We would also like to remind parents that registrations for next year’s First Communion and Confirmation classes are being accepted at the church office during office hours only. The cut-off date for registrations is November 24th. The next R.C.I.A. meeting is on Saturday at 10:00 am in the church hall.

Our Wednesday Fatima devotions begin at 6:30 pm. The evening Mass is the annual Memorial Mass for deceased Carmelite Order and their families. Prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s statue or in the offerings box at the shrine will be included in our prayers and Mass intentions.

There will be a meeting for the Christmas Novena (Simbang Gabi) this afternoon, after the 12:15 pm Mass, in the church hall. Anyone who is interested in participating or who would like to sponsor this event are welcome to attend. On Saturday November 18, the Advent Recollection sponsored by the Carmelite Orders will start at 9:00 am and everyone is invited.

Next weekend there will be a second collection for the Shepherd’s Trust. As is customary, we will have the traditional appeal in favor of this collection. Donation envelopes are available in your box of donation envelopes, and at all church entrances. Please pick up a copy of the very informative newsletter that is available at all church entrances. 31st SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – November 4, 2017

There is Children’s Liturgy, and Lord’s Flock meeting this weekend. For next weekend, November 12, the meeting is canceled due to the Dinner and Dance Karaoke night. We also like to remind parents that registrations for next year’s First Communion and Confirmation classes are being accepted at the church office during office hours. The cut-off date for registrations is November 24th.

Our Wednesday Fatima devotions begin at 6:30 pm. The evening Mass is the annual Memorial Mass for deceased KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS and their families. Prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s statue or in the offerings box at the shrine will be included in our prayers and Mass intentions.

Please note that the next R.C.I.A. meeting is on November 18, 2017 Saturday at 10:00 am in the hall. Also this weekend the Knights of Columbus and Right to life will be at the back of the church selling Christmas cards with a religious message and tickets for our yearly Christmas Raffle. The People’s Sunday Missal is also on sale at the back of the church from our custodian. We will start using them from November 27th the 1st Sunday of Advent.

The volunteers helping in our second year of Christmas Novena (Simbang Gabi) celebration will be at the back of the church this weekend. Anyone who are interested in participating or who want to sponsor are more than welcome to speak to them.

Next weekend, during all Masses, we will have the annual appeal for the Shepherds Trust collection; the collection will be taken the following weekend of November 18/19. The informative newsletter about this Trust will be available at all church entrances.

30th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – October 29, 2017

Today we have a 2nd collection for All Souls Day. In the coming weeks we will continue to accept your offerings and intentions to be included in the Masses on All Souls’ Day and the ones celebrated for loved ones listed in the Remembrance Book.

A word of THANKS from our hard-working Social Committee members for your presence and participation in last weekend’s Pasta Night and Fr. Dominic’s Installation. We are very grateful to all who supported this most enjoyable events. As you know proceeds from the event are directed towards the CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY in early December.

28th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – October 15, 2017

There is Children’s Liturgy this weekend as usual, and the Lord’s Flock has their regular prayer meeting at 2:00 pm. We also like to remind parents that registrations for next year’s First Communion and Confirmation classes are being accepted at the church office during office hours. The cut-off date for registrations is November 24th.

This weekend Masses [at the start of the homily] church volunteers will be conducting a head-count of everyone present in church in this year’s Mass Attendance Survey. This exercise is done during every Mass on two consecutive weekends for statistical purposes only. We thank you in advance for your co-operation.

A big ‘thank you’ from our St. Vincent de Paul Conference for supporting their annual THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE. They would like to remind parishioners that the next BUNDLE UP is scheduled for the weekend of October 28/29. Special thanks to the staff and students in Our Lady of Fatima School for their support. God reward and bless your generous heart.

In the coming week, we will begin accepting your intentions for All Souls’ Day.

And we again remind parishioners that next Sunday, during the 12:15 pm Mass, Bishop Vincent Win will preside at the Installation Mass of our new Pastor, Fr. Dominic Borg. The presence and prayers of parishioners and friends are greatly appreciated. Afterwards, all are welcome to join us for refreshments in the hall.

The Fatima Halloween & Pasta Family Night is fast approaching! Tickets are on sale at the back of the church this weekend and next from our Social Committee volunteers. On weekdays, tickets may be purchased from the office, during office hours only.

Fr. Dominic, the Parish Staff and all Committees in the Parish, together with All Parishioners, want to thank Fr. Victor, Our Previous Pastor for all his care and hard work for Our Parish. 27th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – October 08, 2017

Kindly note that this weekend’s 2nd collection is for the church’s Renovations Fund. And because this is the long weekend there is NO Children’s Liturgy and NO Lord’s Flock prayer meeting.

Monday [tomorrow] is Thanksgiving Day. We wish you all a happy and blessed day. The morning Mass is at 9:00 am and the office and the church will be closed for the rest of the day. Meanwhile parents are reminded that registration forms for First Communion and Confirmation classes are available for pick up from the church office or from the office of the two Catholic Schools in our parish.

Our Lady of Fatima School have their next school Mass this Wednesday at 12:15 pm. The regular Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left Our Lady’s statue or in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our mass intentions.

The parish will commemorate the Final Fatima Apparition on Thursday. Morning Mass is at 8:00 am as usual. Evening devotions start at 6:15 pm by praying Evening Prayer [Vespers], followed by a devotional procession during which the Rosary is prayed. Holy Mass is celebrated at 7:00 pm. The prayer of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will conclude the celebration.

On Friday we welcome Bishop Vincent Win to lead us in a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration in conclusion of the FATIMA CENTENNIAL YEAR at 7:00 pm. Prayers and other devotions begin at 6:15 pm. All are very welcome to participate. Refreshments will be served in our hall afterwards.

26th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – October 01, 2017

On this Respect Life Weekend parishioners are encouraged to join the Lord’s Flock Prayer Group and other church leaders and volunteers in a peaceful and silent witness in favour of life during the annual LIFECHAIN. Our meeting point is the Victoria Park and Danforth intersection [near Shoppers World] from 2:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon.

The Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus is this Tuesday October 3. There is morning Mass at 8:00 am as usual. Evening devotions at 6:15 pm include the Rosary, Vespers [Evening Prayer] and Holy Mass in honour of the Little Flower of Jesus. All are welcome.

The regular Fatima Devotions on Wednesday start at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s statue or in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

The Couples for Christ are again reminding parishioners that the second session of the Christian Life Seminar is this Saturday [today] from 6:00 pm in our church hall. There is a third session next Saturday. All are encouraged not to miss this opportunity to grow in our Christian faith.

Fr. Dominic is once again inviting parishioners and volunteers to be part of his Installation Mass presided by His Excellency Bishop Vincent Nguyen, on Sunday October 22, during the 12:15 pm Mass. Afterwards all are welcome to join them for refreshments in the hall. The presence of all at this celebration is very meaningful; your prayers for our new pastor are also solicited.

25th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – September 24, 2017

This weekend’s 2nd collection is for the Needs of the Church in Canada. Proceeds will be used by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops for their pastoral and humanitarian activities. We thank you in advance for support.

This month’s Infant Jesus Novena will be celebrated this Wednesday. Holy Hour of prayer and song starts at 5:30 pm; followed at 6:30 pm by the weekly Fatima Devotions and holy Mass at 7:00 pm as usual. Prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s shrine or in the intentions box here at the altar will be included in our prayers and Mass.

Also on Wednesday Our Lady of Fatima School will have their first school Mass, here in the church, at 9:00 am. St Joachim School will celebrate their first school Mass for this year on Thursday at 1:15 pm.

Our Social Committee would like to announce that this year’s Fatima Pasta & Halloween Family Night will take place in our church hall on Saturday, October 21. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Preparations are already in progress and tickets will be available soon. Get your tickets early so as not to be disappointed!

The Couples for Christ are again reminding everyone to attend the up-coming Christian Life Seminar in our church hall, spread over four weeks and starting this weekend [today] from 6:00 pm. Once again it is another opportunity to renew our faith commitment and to revitalize our Christian family life.

The annual St Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Food Drive will be held on two weekends: September 30/October 1 [that is next weekend] and the following weekend of October o7/08 which is the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Your generous support has never failed to reach the needy in our community. Supplies are presently a little down so we appeal to your generous heart so we can continue to help those in need. God rewards a generous heart!


24th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – September 17, 2017

A gentle reminder that this weekend’s 2nd collection is for the parish’s Renovations Fund. Proceeds will be directed toward the CENTENARY MEMORIAL, inaugurated and blessed by our beloved archbishop Cardinal Collins last Wednesday. We thank you in advance for your offerings and support as we complete the finishing touches to this project.

On Monday [tomorrow] there is a Baptism Preparation meeting for parents and godparents, here in the church at 7:00 pm. The next baptism celebration is on Saturday at 10:30 am.

The weekly Fatima Devotions on Wednesday start at 6:30 and are followed by holy Mass at 7:00 pm as usual. Prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s shrine or in the intentions box here at the altar will be included in our prayers and Mass.

Another reminder to parents that the weekly Children’s Liturgy Meetings will resume next Sunday during the 10:30 am Mass. Meanwhile, applications for classes in the 2018 First Communion and Confirmation programs will be available soon. We apologize for the delay.

The parish’s Legion of Mary praesidium has its 10th Annual Auxiliary Function. All active and auxiliary members are invited to attend this celebration, hosted in our hall next Saturday, between 1:30 and 3:30 pm.

The Couples for Christ are again inviting parishioners to attend the up-coming Christian Life Seminar hosted in our church hall over four weeks starting next Saturday at 6:00 pm. This is again another opportunity to renew our faith commitment and to revitalize our Christian family life. We hope to have a strong, positive response.

23rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – September 10, 2017

This Sunday [today] the Lord’s Flock has its regular prayer meeting at 2 pm in the hall; and the annual walking pilgrimage from St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish will be arriving for a short stop and prayers at around 3:30 pm. Later, at 6:00 pm, the Carmelite Spirituality Centre will host another lecture in our church hall on Carmel’s newest saint: St. Elizabeth of the Trinity. Entrance is free and all are very welcome.

The memorial of the Most Holy Name of Mary is celebrated on Tuesday. There is morning mass as usual at 8 o’clock; then evening devotions start at 6:30 pm and include praying the Rosary and holy Mass to honor the holy Name of Mary.

This Wednesday our regular Fatima Devotions include the commemoration of the 5th Fatima Apparition and will be presided over by Archbishop Thomas Cardinal Collins. Prayers here in the church start at 6:15; meanwhile His Eminence is welcomed at Our Lady of Fatima School and spends some time visiting the premises.

The procession leaves the school at around 6:30 and pauses by the new outdoor shrine for a short prayer as His Eminence blesses and inaugurates the shrine. We then proceed into the church for the celebration of holy Mass. Before the final blessing Cardinal Collins will lead us in the parish’s consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As always prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s shrine or here at the altar will be included in our Mass and prayers intentions. Parishioners are encouraged to attend and welcome Cardinal Collins on his first visit to our parish.

Thursday is the feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross. There is a morning Mass at 8 o’clock as usual. At 6:30 pm we will pray the Stations of the Cross and then holy Mass in honor of the triumph of the Cross.

On Friday – memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows – morning Mass is at 8 o’clock as usual. Evening devotions at 6:30 pm include the Rosary of Our Lady of Sorrows followed by holy Mass. 22nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – September 03, 2017

A word of thanks from Fr. John Kuziona, the missionary priest from Malawi who was with us last weekend. He is grateful for the welcome and generosity expressed in support of his ministry. This is the long LABOUR DAY weekend; there is NO Lord’s Flock prayer meeting this Sunday afternoon. On Monday [tomorrow] – Labour Day – daily morning Mass is at 9 o’clock and both church and office are closed for the rest of the day. As of Tuesday the Regular Office Hours will apply.

An early reminder to parents; the weekly Children’s Liturgy meetings resume, after the summer break, on , during the 10:30 am Mass. Applications for the upcoming First Communion and Confirmation programs will be ready for pick up from the office soon.

The two Catholic Schools in our parish resume their activities on Tuesday. As a parish community we extend a happy ‘Welcome Back’ to the new administration, staff and students of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and St. Joachim Catholic Elementary School, as they come back to work after their summer vacation.

The Seniors Activities Club will resume its weekly meetings in our church hall this Thursday between 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm. New members are very welcome to join.

This Friday we celebrate the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Morning Mass is at 8 o’clock as usual. The Secular Carmelite Community will host a Thanksgiving Mass to marking their 8th Anniversary during which the Promises and Vows of various members will be received. Prayers start at 6:15 pm and the blessing and enrolment in the Brown Scapular will also take place at the end of the celebration. All are very welcome.

On Sunday, the Carmelite Spirituality Centre will host a second lecture in our church hall at 6:00 pm. The theme is: St. Elizabeth of the Trinity. Entrance is free and all are very welcome.

Saturday ONLY: A reminder that the Mater Dolorosa group is this evening hosting its annual ‘Fiesta’ in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows here in our church from 6:00 pm. This includes an outdoor procession, holy Mass and a time for fellowship in the hall. Everyone is invited.

Spending a few minutes in the Lord’s company is time well spent and could be very rewarding.

The Couples for Christ – Foundation for the Family and Life are again hosting the Christ Our Life Seminar. It will run for 4 Saturdays in our church hall starting September 23 at 6:00 pm. This is another opportunity to help our renewal in the faith and our Christian family commitment. On Monday [tomorrow] there is a Baptism Preparation meeting for parents and godparents, here in the church at 7:00 pm. The next baptism celebration is on Saturday at 10:30 am.

On Tuesday the Church celebrates the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There is a morning Mass at 8 o’clock as usual. Evening devotions and holy Mass begin at 6:30 pm.

This month’s Infant Jesus Novena is this Wednesday. The prayer hour begins at 5:30 pm. The regular Fatima devotions start at 6:30 and are followed by holy Mass at 7:00 pm as usual. As always, prayer requests and intentions left at Our Lady’s shrine or in the intentions box here at the altar will be included in our prayers and Mass. All are welcome to join us in this prayer service.

The Office is still accepting applications from candidates who are interested in joining our upcoming RCIA program. Application forms are available from the office or online on our website. Kindly hand in applications before the end of the month. An interview with the pastor is necessary before the beginning of the program in mid-October.

New parishioners in our community are encouraged to Register their family with us. We also remind those already registered to inform the Office of any recent changes to their personal data. Kindly note that tax receipts will not be issued against un-numbered donation envelopes or to registered parishioners with incomplete information. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Finally, a gentle reminder that next weekend our parish will host Fr. He will be sharing with us information about his missionary experiences. This weekend’s 2nd collection is for Catholic Missions and Canadian Missions, formerly known as ‘the shared collection’. Your donations help sustain the Catholic faith in isolated, poor and hard-to-reach mission areas in Canada. Thank you in advance for your on-going support.

This Sunday [today] there is a Lord’s Flock prayer meeting in the hall at 2:00 pm. On Tuesday the Church celebrates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Morning Mass is at 8 o’clock as usual. We will also have evening devotion and holy Mass beginning at 6:30. All are very welcome.

A gentle reminder that the annual Mass for the Faithful Departed hosted by Catholic Cemeteries of Toronto will be celebrated this Wednesday at 7:00 pm in all seven Catholic cemeteries of the archdiocese. See further details on the flyer posted on the bulletin boards.

The regular Fatima Devotions on Wednesday start at 6:30 pm followed by Holy Mass commemorating the 4th Fatima apparition. A short procession after mass and the consecration to the Immaculate Heart will conclude our devotions. A well-deserved word of thanks and appreciation to our musical director Mr. David Lamb and our choirs for last Sunday’s Centenary Year Marian Concert. It was a fine musical tribute to honor the Virgin Mary in this Centenary Year of the Fatima apparitions. While thanking all our music ministry teams we wish them a blessed time of rest and vacation. This Sunday [today] there is a Lord’s Flock prayer meeting in our hall from 2 pm.

A reminder that this year’s ShareLife Campaign comes to a close on the last day of this month. So far we are still short of the target set for our parish. We are still accepting donations, as every contribution, no matter how minimal, will make a difference and is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who have already contributed.

A final reminder regarding the Centenary Year Marian Concert hosted here in our church this Sunday afternoon. This is musical tribute to honor the Fatima Apparitions Centenary Year is a one-hour presentation, featuring ‘ensemble’ the parish’s three choirs coordinated by our musical director Mr. David Lamb. The concert starts at 4:30; doors open 45 minutes before and entrance is free. Love offerings and other donations are welcome. Proceeds will be addressed toward the Centenary Memorial Fund.

[Tomorrow] Monday, July 17, we celebrate the solemn commemoration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Morning Mass is at 8:00 as always. Evening Devotions start at 6:15 pm and include the Rosary, Evening Prayer, enrolment in the Scapular and sung Holy Mass. The parish’s Secular Carmelite community is organizing the celebration. Today’s 2nd collection is for the parish’s Renovations Fund & the Centenary Memorial project. Works on this project started this past week and is expected to be completed by the end of August. We encourage volunteers who missed the first meeting, and still want to serve in this ministry, to attend Thursday’s seminar and complete an application/commitment form. The Commissioning of Eucharistic Ministers will take place during the celebration of Mass on Friday, July 14 at 7:00 pm.

Members of the Lord’s Flock prayer group are advised that, due to the unexpected death of the mother of Bro. Jun, the group’s leader, there is no prayer meeting for the next 3 weekends. Meetings will resume on Sunday, July 16 at the regular time.

The end-of-school Masses for Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and St. Joachim Catholic School will be celebrated here in the church this Monday [tomorrow] at 9:00 am and 1:15 pm respectively. During the mass each school will be honoring its Graduating students.

Eucharistic Ministers serving in our church, and others who recently applied to become part of this ministry, are reminded that they are expected to attend a Renewal Seminar this Thursday at 7 pm in our church hall. This Wednesday we start our devotions at 5:30 pm with the Infant Jesus Novena devotions for the 3rd month. Then at 6:30 pm we continue with the weekly Fatima Devotions in the commemoration of 2nd Fatima Apparition. A short [indoor] procession and the prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will conclude the devotions. The Mass and prayer intentions will include prayer requests made in the intentions list kept here at the altar.

The solemn Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated on Friday. Devotions start at 8 am with holy Mass, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and adoration through the morning. At noon we will pray the Angelus, the Divine Mercy chaplet and Benediction. Holy Mass at 12:30 pm concludes the day’s devotions.

On Saturday we celebrate the feast of the Nativity of John Baptist during the 9:00 am Mass. After Mass we pray the Rosary to honor the Immaculate Heart of Virgin Mary, also commemorated on the same day. The anticipated Sunday Mass is at 4:30 pm as usual.

A reminder that the Appeals of Our Lady Apparitions Exhibition is still open for viewing in the hall. Viewing times are posted on all bulletin boards and the exhibits will be dismantled on Sunday [today] afternoon when the exhibition closes down. Parishioners have some time still to visit the 156 exhibits on display.

The Lord’s Flock group has its regular prayer meeting this Sunday from 2:00 pm. And again we ask parents to visit the office – at their earliest convenience but not later than Friday – to order copies of the First Communion and Confirmation group photos.

This weekend’s 2nd collection is for the Pope’s Pastoral Works – our gift to the Holy Father toward the Church’s charitable works. Thank you for your generous support.

On this VICTORIA DAY weekend there is no Children’s Liturgy meeting and the Lord’s Flock has no prayer meeting. On Monday [tomorrow] is VICTORIA DAY; our morning Mass is at 9 o’clock and both the church and office will be closed for the rest of the day.

Tuesday is CONFIRMATION DAY. Bishop Vincent Win will preside the celebration. Holy Mass starts at 6:30 pm and all are asked to be seated by 6:15. The final post-confirmation meeting for the newly confirmed will be in the church hall on Saturday at 3:00 pm.

The next Infant Jesus Novena is this Wednesday. Devotional prayers and a Holy Hour begin at 5:30 pm. The regular Fatima Devotions follow at 6:30 pm. Holy Mass at 7 pm concludes the devotions.

The Appeals of Our Lady Apparitions and Marian Shrine Exhibition will open for public viewing in the hall as of next Saturday after the 4:30 pm Mass. The exhibits will be available for viewing at times when the church is open. Groups from schools or other organizations are kindly asked to phone the office ahead of their visit to have an attendant open the hall and show them around.

Next weekend we celebrate Ascension Sunday. A final Children’s Liturgy meeting will take place on Sunday during the 10:30 Mass and the Lord’s Flock has its regular prayer meeting at the usual time. Later, at 6:00 pm, the Carmelite Spirituality Centre will host its first spirituality lecture of this series on Mary, Woman of Courage. Entrance is free and all are welcome. Thank you.


5th SUNDAY OF EASTER (A) – May 14, 2017

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who a week ago celebrated their FIRST COMMUNION in our parish. We hope that all of them will continue to regularly share with us in the Eucharist. Parents are kindly asked to visit the office, during office hours, to order copies of the group photo.

We are happy to welcome back Fr. Dominic after his participation in the provincial chapter of the Malta Discalced Carmelite Province. Kindly note that our pastor will be away this week attending the Priests’ Annual Retreat. Fr. Victor will be back on Thursday evening.

This month’s community meeting for the Secular Carmelites is this Tuesday, in the church hall at 7:00 pm. The regular Fatima Devotions, on Wednesday, begin at 6:30 pm as usual.
Confirmation candidates are reminded that they have a Confirmation practice here in church on Friday at 1:00 pm. Also on Friday the Legion of Mary will host this month’s Patrician Meeting at 7:00 pm in the hall.

Next weekend is the Victoria Day long weekend. There is NO Children’s Liturgy meeting and the Lord’s Flock has NO prayer meeting. During all of next weekend’s Masses we have a 2nd collection for the Pope’s Pastoral Works – our gift to the Holy Father for the charitable works of the Church.

4th SUNDAY OF EASTER (A) – May 07, 2017

This weekend’s 2nd collection is for ShareLife – our second offering in this year’s campaign. We thank you in advance for your generosity.

Our Novena Devotions continue today with prayers and Benediction soon after this Mass. Tomorrow, Sunday, the 12:15 Mass is the Novena Mass; then, at 1:45 pm, we have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, we pray the Rosary and the novena prayers, and Benediction. On weekdays the daily novena devotions begin at 6:15 pm. All are encouraged to join in our prayers and Masses as we include in the prayers all loved ones in the intentions Novena List at Our Lady’s Shrine.

Our Lady of Fatima School and St. Joachim School will be jointly celebrating the Fatima Feast and commemorating the Apparitions Centenary on Friday. The program includes a procession from the school, planting of 2 memorial trees, symbolic crowning of the Virgin Mary and holy Mass.

On Saturday – feast day of Our Lady of Fatima – morning Mass is at 9 o’clock followed by the recitation of the Rosary. The church remains open all day for devotional visits and prayers. At 12 noon we pray the Rosary, the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart and holy Mass. At 4:15 we pray Evening Prayer [Vespers]. Solemn Mass is celebrated at 4:30, followed by an outdoor procession during which we pray the Rosary. The Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Benediction conclude our feast-day celebrations. All are welcome to attend.

A reminder that next Sunday is Mother’s Day. Let us continue to honor our spiritual mother Mary as we offer prayers for all natural mothers, cherished and remembered on their special day.


3rd SUNDAY OF EASTER (A) – April 30, 2017

This Monday [tomorrow] we have a Baptism Preparation Meeting for parents and godparents, here in the church, at 7:00 pm. The next baptism celebration is next Saturday at 10:30 am.

This weekend’s Children’s Liturgy and First Communion meetings are the final ones before the parish’s First Communion celebration next Saturday. There will be a concluding meeting on Sunday, May 28, feast of the Ascension of the Lord. The parish’s celebration of FIRST HOLY COMMUNION [to some 77 boys and girls from Schools in our area] will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6 in the afternoon. Let us keep all candidates and their families in our prayers.

The regular Fatima Devotions on Wednesday start at 6:30 pm, as usual, followed by holy Mass at 7:00 pm. Prayer requests and intentions left in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions. After the Mass – at around 7:30 pm – there is a final gathering for pilgrims booked in our group to go on the Centenary Pilgrimage in early June. Flight tickets will be given out and other related information will be shared by the travel agents.

Today’s bulletin has an insert with the program for the special Novena of Masses and Prayers in preparation for the feast of OUR LADY OF FATIMA in this Fatima Apparitions Centenary Year. The Novena begins this Thursday; the daily evening novena prayers and Mass start at 6:15 pm and the daily prayers and intentions will be offered for loved ones and parishioners in the special Novena List. Envelopes and forms are available at Our Lady’s Shrine.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY (A) – April 23, 2017

The organizers of last night’s fund-raiser – the Spring Dinner Dance – [in aid of our Fatima Centenary Memorial and the Mater Dolorosa Fiesta] are very grateful to all who attended and supported this community and social activity. We hope all had a good time and that you will continue to support all our activities in this Centenary Year of the Fatima Apparitions.

The Feast of the Divine Mercy is celebrated this [Sunday] afternoon from 1:45; it includes prayers and Eucharistic Adoration, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and holy Mass at 2:15 pm. At the end of Mass, Benediction will conclude our special devotions. All are very welcome to participate.

Today [tomorrow] we welcome to our 12:15 Mass the 246th Toronto Scout Group as they give thanks to God on marking their 60th Anniversary. While extending congratulations to this Toronto group, we wish all Scouts Canada Groups prosperity and success in the years ahead.

On Wednesday, at 5:30 pm, we commence our devotional monthly Infant Jesus NovenaPrayer requests and intentions left in the offerings box at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

A reminder that candidates in our Confirmation program will meet again next Saturday at 10:00 am in the hall for a Confirmation Retreat. All registered candidates must attend. Meanwhile, the Children’s Liturgy and First Communion class will be meeting again next Sunday. They will have a final meeting on Sunday, May 28, feast of the Ascension of the Lord.

Next weekend Deacon Philip Allard will be the parish guest and will be assisting and delivering, during all of the weekend Masses, the Chalice Appeal. He will be the homilist at all Masses and after each Mass he will be willing to answer questions and help parishioners interested in sponsoring a destitute child. EASTER SUNDAY (A) – April 16, 2017

A gentle reminder that today’s second collection is your EASTER GIFT to the parish. Thank you so much for your on-going and generous support. There is no Children’s Liturgy this weekend and next and no classes in the First Communion or Confirmation programs.

Tomorrow – Easter Monday – our morning Mass is at 9 o’clock. This is followed at 10:30 by a baptism celebration of 6 infants. Kindly note that the church and office will be closed for the rest of the day on Easter Monday. We go back to Regular Office Hours on Tuesday.

Throughout this week of the Octave of Easter we will resume our regular activities. On Tuesday, the Carmelite Secular Order has its monthly meeting in the hall at 7pm. On Wednesday there is no morning Mass and our evening Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm; holy Mass follows at 7pm. St. Joachim School will have their Easter School Mass on Thursday at 9:15 am in the school’s gym; Our Lady of Fatima School have theirs on Friday at 9am here in the church. The next Patrician Meeting hosted by the Legion of Mary is also on Friday at 7pm in the chapel.

Saturday is the night of the much anticipated Spring Dinner Dance – a fund-raiser in aid of our Fatima Centenary Memorial and the Mater Dolorosa Fiesta. A handful of tickets are still available. The winning tickets in the Easter Raffle, drawn last week-end, will be published in our next bulletin. Both winners were contacted and have picked up their prize. Many thanks to all who supported this activity.

Next Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday in the Octave of Easter. Our parish celebration of the FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY begins at 1:45 pm. We will have a moment of Eucharistic Adoration, followed by Holy Mass and Benediction. The Lord’s Flock music ministry will lead us into praise and worship as we begin our prayers and adoration, including the Divine Mercy chaplet, and holy Mass beginning at 2:30 pm. All are very welcome to join us in this annual celebration.

The 246th Toronto Scout Group – which is attached to our parish – is this year celebrating its 60th Anniversary. The group is non-denominational, but next Sunday – which is also St. George’s Day [Patron Saint for Scouts] – they will be joining us for the 12:15 Mass in thanksgiving to God on this anniversary. We extend to this and all Scouts Canada Groups congratulations and prosperous good wished for the years ahead.

In the blessedness of this Easter Sunday let us indeed rejoice and be glad, for this is the day that the Lord has made! The Pastoral Team and the parish’s Pastoral and Finance Councils would like to extend to parishioners and to our newly Baptized or Received in our Catholic Communion community, other visitors all of you joining us this Easter Day, every blessing in the life and light of the Risen Christ!


PALM SUNDAY OF THE LORD’S PASSION (A) – April 9, 2017

In the coming days of Holy Week kindly note that there is no morning Mass, but the church is open for prayers and reconciliation from 8:00 to 9:00 am. In the evening we have reconciliation from 5:00 and 6:15, then we pray the Stations of the Cross and holy Mass at 7pm. Detailed information is available in the Holy Week scheduled posted on bulletin boards at church entrances.

A gentle reminder that this is the St. Vincent de Paul Bundle Up Weekend. The container is parked by the rectory in the parking lot. It is open during the day only and please do not leave bundles on the outside of the container.

At 11 o’clock on Tuesday morning His Eminence Cardinal Collins will preside at the Chrism Mass in St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica. During this special Mass priests renew their vows and the Sacramental Oils are blessed. All are very welcome to attend.

In our church the Mass of the Lord’s Last Supper on Holy Thursday begins at 7:30 pm. On GOOD FRIDAY we have two celebrations of the Lord’s Passion and Death, the first one starting at 12:00 noon and the second one at 3:00 pm. The Stations of the Cross are prayed at 7:00 pm. The Easter Vigil and Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday starts at 8:00 pm. See full details on the bulletin boards or by visiting our website at www.fatimashrine.ca. Bishop Vincent Win will preside the Eucharist on Holy Thursday and the Easter Vigil on Saturday; he will also lead the Solemn Liturgy at 3 o’clock on Good Friday.

Please note that with this weekend bulletin you have, as an insert, the Financial Report for 2016 and the customary Letter of Thanks from the pastor. And please remember also that the Office will be closed from this Thursday [Holy Thursday] until the following Monday [Easter Monday]. We will re-open at the regular hours on the Tuesday after Easter.

The volunteers are at the back of the church with the last remaining tickets for next Saturday’s Spring Dinner Dance and tickets in the Easter Raffle, to be drawn [tomorrow] today at the end of the 12:30 Mass.

Over the coming weeks the Knights of Columbus, when available, have accepted to act as Honor Guards of the Eucharist during the giving of Holy Communion. They will stand reverently at every Communion Station to make sure that the Eucharist is consumed and not disposed of improperly and in an irreverent way. Everyone’s cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Finally, a gentle reminder that at the end of Mass today, when all ministers and servers have returned to the sacristy, the Ushers will be giving out Blessed Palms to those present and want them. Ushers have been instructed to give one palm leaf to each person. Please approach the ushers in an orderly manner. Thank you for your cooperation.


5th SUNDAY OF LENT [A] – April 2, 2017

A gentle reminder that today’s 2nd collection is our first contribution to the 2017 ShareLife Campaign. We thank you in advance for your generosity and support. Next Sunday children in the Children’s Liturgy and First Communion class are encouraged to participate in the Palm Sunday indoor procession [here in the church] introducing the 10:30 am Mass.

On Wednesday the regular Fatima Devotions begin at 6:30 pm as usual, followed by holy Mass at 7:00. The Mass and prayer intentions during our devotions include all the requests made in the intentions list kept at the shrine.

The Knights of Columbus have their monthly meetings this Thursday at 6:45 and 7:15 pm in the Knights’ Chambers.

Next weekend is the St. Vincent de Paul Bundle Up weekend. The container will be parked by the rectory in the parking lot from Friday through to Sunday. It will be open during the day only and please, do not leave bundles on the outside of the container.

The Friday Lenten Devotions start at 6:30 pm with praying the Stations of the Cross followed by holy Mass.

Next Saturday at 10:00 am candidates in the RCIA program are invited to join us here in church for a final practice ahead of the Easter Vigil celebration. Meanwhile, Confirmation candidates have a final meeting at 2:30 pm in the church hall.

We still have available some 12 returned tickets for the up-coming Spring Dinner Dance on Saturday, April 22. Volunteers are again at the back of the church with the few tickets still available. Tickets in the Easter Raffle are also available. The draw for this will be made at the end of the 12:30 pm Mass next Sunday.

Next Sunday’s Liturgy for Passion and Palm Sunday introduces Holy Week. The solemn blessing of palms will take place at the beginning of the Saturday 4:30 pm Mass. We remind you again of the change in Mass times for next Sunday. First morning Mass is at 8:30. The Blessing of Palms and an indoor Procession will introduce the 10:30 Mass at which the children in our 1st Communion class and in the Children’s Liturgy will participate. The final Mass starts at 12:30 in the afternoon. Please follow the Holy Week Schedule given out with the bulletin three weekends ago. A few copies are available at church entrances.

4th SUNDAY OF LENT [A] – March 26, 2017

Another reminder that the Friends of the Holy Land Christian Families are in the lobby at the back of the church with a display of various religious items hand-carved in olive wood, by Christian families from Bethlehem. Items on display make ideal gifts for the upcoming First Communions or Confirmations. They are the main means of livelihood for many Christian families in the Holy Land. Your support is highly recommended and appreciated.

This week in the Archdiocese we celebrate the Week of Confessions. In our parish priests will be available for reconciliation at specific times and days. Please check details as posted on the bulletin boards at all church entrances. During office hours one can request reconciliation by calling at the office.

The Lenten Mass for Our Lady of Fatima School staff and students will be celebrated this Wednesday at 12:30 pm here in the church. Then, from 5:15 to 6:30 pm, priests will be available here in the church for reconciliation as part of the parish’s Day of Confession. The regular Fatima Devotions begin at 6:30 pm as usual with holy Mass at 7:00. The Mass and prayer intentions during our devotions include all the requests made in the intentions list kept at the shrine.

Reconciliation is again celebrated on Friday from 5:15 to 6:30 pm. The Friday Lenten Devotions start at 6:30 pm with the Stations of the Cross followed by holy Mass.

Candidates in the RCIA program have a final session next Saturday at 10:00 am; on Sunday they will join us again for the 3rd Scrutiny during the 12:15 Mass. There are regular classes next weekend for candidates in the Confirmation, First Communion and Children’s Liturgy programs.

Please take note that the next St. Vincent de Paul Bundle Up Weekend is in two weeks time, that is the weekend of April 8/9. Please, do not leave bags in the stairwell outside the St. Vincent de Paul premises as our storage place is already full we are unable to accept your bundles earlier.

Tickets for the Spring Dinner Dance are almost completely sold out. Our volunteers are again at the back of the church with the few tickets still available. Tickets in the Easter Raffle are also available. As always we are grateful for your support.

3rd SUNDAY OF LENT [A] – March 19, 2017

Once again this weekend we have no classes in the Confirmation and First Communion programs. These will resume next weekend at the regular time. The Lord’s Flock prayer group has its regular prayer meeting [on Sunday] at 2:00 pm.

On Monday [tomorrow] we celebrate the feast day of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Virgin Mary and Patron of Canada. Morning Mass in honor of this great saint is at 8:00 am and we also have evening devotions starting at 6:30 pm and followed by solemn Mass.

The Catholic Schools in our parish are celebrating their Lenten Reconciliation and First Reconciliation for the Grade 2s in the coming days. Details are in the bulletin. On Friday, from 5:15 to 6:30 pm, priests will be available here in the church to administer reconciliation to Grade 2s in Public Schools attending our First Communion program.

The regular Fatima Devotions on Wednesday begin at 6:30 pm as usual and are followed by holy Mass at 7:00. The Mass and prayer intentions during our devotions include all the requests made in the intentions list kept at the shrine.

Please note that on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm we have a Memorial Mass for the soul of Anna Mariano. Meanwhile, our Friday Lenten Devotions start at 6:30 pm with the Stations of the Cross followed by holy Mass.

Candidates in the RCIA program meet again on Saturday at 10:00 am; on Sunday they will join us for the 12:15 Mass for the 2nd Scrutiny. Candidates in the Confirmation program resume their classes on Saturday at 2:30 pm. The Children’s Liturgy and First Communion classes resume on Sunday at the usual times.

Volunteers are again at the back of the church with tickets for the Spring Dinner Dance and the Easter Raffle. Proceeds will go towards the parish’s Centenary Memorial and the Dolorosa Canada Fiesta. The support of parishioners and their friends is greatly appreciated.

2nd SUNDAY OF LENT [A] – March 12, 2017

This weekend and next we have no classes in the Confirmation and First Communion programs. But The Lord’s Flock prayer group has its regular prayer meeting [on Sunday] at 2:00 pm.

The regular Wednesday Fatima Devotions begin at 6:30 pm as usual and are followed by holy Mass at 7:00. The Mass and prayer intentions during our devotions include all the requests made in the intentions list kept at the shrine.

On Friday we have an 8:00 am Mass as usual. There is also a Wedding Celebration at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile the Friday Lenten Devotions start at 6:30 pm with the Stations of the Cross followed by holy Mass.

On Saturday our church will host the ACIES Function of the Legion of Mary – a yearly celebration during which all active and auxiliary members, friends and parishioners are invited to celebrate and renew their commitment and consecration to Mother Mary.

Candidates in our RCIA program have their next session on Saturday at 10:00 am. Then on Sunday they will join us for the 12:15 Mass during which we will celebrate the rite of the 1st Scrutiny. But candidates in the Confirmation or First Communion programs and in the Children’s Liturgy have no meetings next weekend due to the Schools March Break.

Once again our volunteers are at the back of the church with tickets for the Spring Dinner Dance hosted by Dolorosa Canada on Saturday, April 22. 1st SUNDAY OF LENT [A] – March 05, 2017

This Sunday afternoon candidates in our RCIA program will participate in the Rite of Election presided by Bishop Vincent Win, at St. Barnabas Parish, 10 Washburn Way in Scarborough, starting at 2.30 pm. Candidates, their sponsors and their families are kindly asked to be in the church 15 minutes before the start. The Lord’s Flock prayer group will this Sunday [today] have its regular prayer meeting at 2:00 pm.

This Wednesday the Grade 10 students from Jean Vanier Catholic High School have a Lenten Retreat in our church hall from 8am to 3pm. The regular Wednesday Fatima Devotions start at 6:30 pm as usual and are followed by holy Mass at 7:00. Please note that the Mass intentions and devotions include all the requests made in the intentions list and envelopes kept at the shrine.

The Knight of Columbus have their monthly meetings this Thursday in the Knights’ Chambers. The executive meeting begins at 6:45 pm and is followed at 7:15 by the general meeting. All the Knights are encouraged to attend.
We have an 8am Mass on Friday as usual. Friday Lenten devotions begin at 6:30 pm when we pray the Stations of the Cross and holy Mass at 7:00 pm.

Candidates in our RCIA program have their next session on Saturday, March 11 at 10am in the hall. But we would like to remind those attending Confirmation or First Communion programs or the Children’s Liturgy gatherings that they will not be meeting the next two weekends due to the Schools March Break.

This is the final weekend that the 2016 Tax Receipts are available at the back of the church. Kindly collect them on your way out of church after Mass. From Monday [tomorrow] they will only be available from the office. And our volunteers at the back of the church are also taking reservations for an Easter Dinner Dance event hosted by Dolorosa Canada in our church hall on Saturday, April 22. 8th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – February 26, 2017

A gentle reminder that next Saturday, March 4, there is No RCIA meeting. But the weekend’s Confirmation and First Communion classes and the Children’s Liturgy will meet at the regular time. The Lord’s Flock prayer group will resume its Sunday meetings at 2:00 pm.

It is with joy and gratitude that as a parish community we extend sincere congratulations to Paul and Marg O’Connor as we acknowledge the sterling service rendered, along with their staff, at the Paul O’Connor Funeral Home for the past 50 years. We are also grateful for their on-going support to our parish and their service to our faith community. May God reward them abundantly.

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday – a day of fasting and abstinence – initiating the penitential season of Lent. Devotions begin at 12 noon as we pray the Stations of the Cross followed by holy Mass. Evening devotions begin at 6:30 pm with the Stations of the Cross and holy Mass. The blessing and giving of ashes will take place during both the noon and evening Masses. The special schedule for the weeks of Lent is posted on all the bulletin boards and in the bulletin.

Friday is First Friday. Devotions start with morning mass at 8:00 am, followed by Eucharistic exposition and adoration through the morning. At 12.00 noon we will pray the Divine Mercy chaplet, Benediction and Holy Mass at 12:30 pm. At 6:30 pm we will pray the Stations of the Cross and then holy Mass at 7:00 pm to conclude the day’s devotions.

Parishioners are invited to attend the World Day of Prayer Service, next Saturday, at St. Bede’s Anglican Church¬, on Westbourne Avenue starting at 3:00 pm. Members from other Christian communities in our area will also be participating. This year’s theme is: “Am I Being Unfair to You?” and the prayers were written by the World Day Committee of The Philippines. Next Sunday Bishop Win will preside at the Rite of Election for candidates in the RCIA programs in our region. This is taking place at St. Barnabas Parish starting at 2:30 pm. 7th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – February 19, 2017

This weekend’s second collection is for the parish’s Renovations Fund. We are currently planning to set up an outdoor shrine to honor the Virgin of Fatima as a lasting Memorial to the first 100 years of the Apparitions. Sponsors are welcome and we are always grateful for your generous help.

Kindly note that this weekend – the Family Day long weekend – there are no meetings for the RCIA, Children’s Liturgy or The Lord’s Flock groups; and there are no classes in the First Holy Communion & Confirmation programs. They will all resume next weekend.

Tomorrow [Monday] – the Family Day Holiday – morning Mass is at 9 o’clock. Both the church and the office are closed all day.

This month’s meeting for the Secular Carmelites is this Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the church hall. Also on Tuesday, here in church at 7:00 pm, we celebrate a Memorial Mass for Jim Amodeo.

The regular Fatima Devotions on Wednesday start at 6:30 pm and include the Rosary, other novena prayers and holy Mass. Please note that prayer requests and intentions left in the ‘offerings box’ at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions every week.

On Friday night we received the news of the death of Fr. Lawrence McGough, who served as pastor here at Fatima from 1973 to 1976. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at All Saints Parish in Etobicoke at 11:00 am. Please remember him in your prayers.

6th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – February 12, 2017

As we continue to enjoy celebrating Marriage Sunday let us keep in our prayers all married couples and other couples planning to get married in the coming months. We wish all of them a very happy and blessed day.

A gentle reminder that next weekend is the Family Day holiday weekend. There are no meetings for the RCIA, CHILDREN’S LITURGY or THE LORD’S FLOCK groups; and there are no classes in the CONFIRMATION and FIRST COMMUNION programs. Meetings resume the weekend after.

The Secular Carmelites Secretariat is hosting a Pre-Lenten Retreat in our church and hall next Saturday, between 9.00 am and 2.30 pm. Kindly see details on the bulletin boards or call the office during office hours. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate.

5th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – February 05, 2017

Kindly note that this weekend’s second collection is the annual Fuel Offering for the church. We thank you in advance for your generous support.

Faith leaders from across the Greater Toronto Area will come together in prayer to remember the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting and pray for peace. The interfaith prayer service will take place [tomorrow] Monday at the Metropolitan United Church on Queen St. East starting at 7:00 pm. Bishop Robert Kasun will represent the Archdiocese of Toronto. All are welcome.

This Thursday the Knights of Columbus have their monthly meetings starting at 6:45 pm in the Knights’ Chambers.

Saturday is the World Day of the Sick on the memorial of OUR LADY OF LOURDES. Morning Mass is at 9 o’clock. Followed by praying the Rosary and other prayers for the sick. Meanwhile, the Secular Carmelites Secretariat is hosting a Pre-Lenten Retreat in our church and hall on Saturday, February 18 from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm. A gentle reminder that next weekend our archdiocese will celebrate Marriage Sunday. The RCIA class on Saturday is at 10:00 am as usual. Candidates in the Confirmation program have their first meeting also next Saturday at 2:30 pm. Thank you.

4th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – January 29, 2017

Everyone is invited to join Cardinal Collins and other city-wide religious leaders in an Ecumenical Prayer Service at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica this Sunday [today] at 3:00 pm to conclude this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

Meanwhile, Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick will celebrate a special Mass for the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life. This celebration, at St. Paul’s Basilica, starts this Sunday [today] at 3 o’clock this afternoon.

On Wednesday the regular Fatima Devotions begin at 6:30 pm and will include the Rosary and holy Mass. Prayer requests and intentions left in the ‘offerings box’ at the shrine are included in our Mass intentions.

On Thursday is the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas. There is morning Mass at 8 o’clock as usual. Evening devotions begin at 6:30 pm and include the traditional blessing of candles, followed by a short indoor procession with blessed candles to the sanctuary where the Eucharist is celebrated. The blessings and inscription in the brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Everyone is encouraged to participate.

Friday is First Friday. Devotions start at 12:15 pm and include prayers, the Divine Mercy chaplet and holy Mass. Adoration follows. Evening devotions at 6:30 pm include the chaplet, litany to the Sacred Heart and benediction. Holy Mass at 7:00 pm concludes the day’s devotion. We encourage everyone to spend some time in silent prayer and adoration during the afternoon and early evening hours.

The 2017 Boxes of Donation Envelopes are now reserved in the office. Parishioners may still pick them up, during office hours, until the end of February.

3rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [A] – January 22, 2017

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity continues this week. In conclusion to this prayer week all are invited to join Cardinal Collins and other city-wide religious leaders in an prayer Ecumenical Prayer Service at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica starting at 3:00 pm next Sunday. The Knights of Columbus would like to thank the parents and all participants who joined their annual Free Throw Contest at Our Lady of Fatima School Gym on Friday night. Congratulations to all participants and the best of luck in future tournaments to the winners.

This Monday [tomorrow] we have the monthly School Mass for staff and students in Our Lady of Fatima School at 12:30 pm here in the church. The Mass for St. Joachim School is on Thursday at 9.15 am in the school’s gym.

A Memorial Mass to mark the 40th day from the passing on of Avelino Beloso will be celebrated here in the church this Thursday at 7:00 pm. Relatives and friends are encouraged to attend.

Grade 7 students, already registered in our Confirmation Program, are invited with their families to attend and participate in the Enrolment Ceremony taking place next Saturday during the 4:30 pm Mass. Candidates are asked to seat themselves [some 10 minutes before the start of the mass] in the front pews that will be reserved for them.

The boxes of the 2017 Donation Envelopes still uncollected at the back of the church will be moved to the office during the coming week. Parishioners no longer interested in taking their box should notify the office as soon as possible. Unclaimed boxes will be re-assigned to new parishioners if still uncollected by the middle of next month. Thank you, and have a blessed day.


THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD (A) – January 08, 2017

Kindly note that the Children’s Liturgy meetings will resume their weekly gatherings next Sunday during the 10:30 am Mass. The Lord’s Flock prayer meetings will resume as well next Sunday.

The Seniors’ Club will get together again in our church hall as of this coming Thursday. Meanwhile, the Knights of Columbus would like to thank parishioners for supporting their charitable initiatives during the Advent/Christmas seasons. God reward your generosity. This month’s Knights of Columbus meetings will also be this Thursday starting at 6:45 pm in the Knights’ Chambers.

First Holy Communion applicants with their parents have an initial/information meeting this coming Friday at 6:30 pm in our hall. Only applicants already registered need attend this meeting. No late applicants will be accepted. Classes in this year’s First Communion Program begin next Sunday according to the set schedule.

Finally, a gentle reminder that a number of the 2017 Donation Envelopes boxes are still uncollected at the back of the church. Since we are now using these envelopes we encourage parishioners to pick up their box by the end of this month. They will later be transferred to the office and recycled if still unclaimed. MARY, MOTHER OF GOD [A] – January 01, 2017

Kindly note that during all of this weekend Masses we have a 2nd collection – the yearly Octave of Christmas offering – for the needs of the parish. Please start using the new donation envelopes for 2017 today. Quite a few boxes of the 2017 DONATION ENVELOPES are still uncollected at the back of the church. Kindly pick them up at your earliest convenience and contact the office as soon as possible with any changes or updates to your personal data as we will soon start working of the tax receipts for 2016. Please be aware that our new system is unable to issue a tax donations receipt to donors who have no envelope number or are registered with incomplete information.

A well-deserved word of Thanks to all volunteers and other parishioners who supported and prepared last night’s New Year’s Eve Family Dinner & Fun Night. It was a really enjoyable night and, thanks to the few who worked hard behind the scenes and contributed their time and energy, it was indeed very successful.

Next Sunday, January 8 is the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. Meanwhile, please note that on Monday [tomorrow] is a Statutory Holiday and so daily Mass is at 9:00 am and the church and office are closed for the rest of the day.

On Tuesday we go back to the Regular Office Hours. And on Wednesday we celebrate the Feast of the Infant Jesus. Prayers and adoration begin at 6:00 pm and include the Rosary and Benediction. Holy Mass is at 7:00 pm and this is followed by a time of fellowship in the church hall.

Friday is First Friday. Devotions start at 12:15 in the afternoon and holy Mass. Adoration follows through the afternoon and early evening. Evening devotions and benediction will be at 6:30 followed by holy Mass at 7pm. We remind candidates in our RCIA program that meetings resume next Saturday at 10:00 am in the church hall. Children’s Liturgy sessions resume on Sunday, January 15 and the Seniors Activities Club will get back together in our church hall on Thursday, January 12.

Finally, grateful for your constant support, the parish is offering a small token of appreciation in the form of a calendar, or a pen, or a pocket monthly planner. And we suggest you take one token per person on your way out after Mass.

The Nativity of the Lord (A) – December 25, 2016

A reminder that:
on CHRISTMAS DAY Masses will be at 9:30 and 11:00 am. There are no earlier or later Masses.
the PARISH OFFICE is closed for the holidays; it will re-open on Wednesday to Friday, mornings only.
Next Sunday – New Year’s Day – Masses are celebrated at the regular times, that is: 9:00, 10:30 am and 12:15 pm.

The morning Mass on Monday [tomorrow] – Boxing Day – is at 9:00 am. This is followed by a Holy Hour for the 9th month Infant Jesus Novena. All are welcome to join in this prayer hour. Tuesday is a statutory holiday; morning Mass is at 9:00 am and the Church and Office will be closed all day. Kindly note that the Sock Drive by the Knights of Columbus ends next weekend.

This year the feast of The Holy Family is celebrated on Friday. Mass will be at 8:00 am. Then, on Saturday, December 31st morning Mass is at 9 o’clock. But the End-of-the-Year Thanksgiving Mass, [which is also the Sunday anticipated Mass] will be at 5.30 pm. Meanwhile, doors open at 7 pm for the New Year’s Eve Family Night in our church hall; dinner will be served at 8 pm. We still have some tickets available from the office.

The 2017 Donation Envelope Boxes are ready for pick up at the back of the church. Boxes are sorted in trays in alphabetical order according to the family’s last name and will be used as of next Sunday, January 1st – New Year’s Day.
